Tombola say: “This Northumberland castle is famous for its ghostly goings on, with 255 reviews mentioning the word ‘ghost’, from stories of a Pantry Ghost, who begs visitors for water, to men’s voices singing in the chapel, there is plenty of paranormal activity on offer for this Halloween.”

Tulloch Castle, Dingwall

Over in Dingwall, Scotland, Tulloch Castle has heaps of stories to tell. Dating from the 12th century, it also scored highly for ghost sightings and ranked second in the study. Are you brave enough to give it a visit this Halloween?

“It was however Treasurer’s House, in North Yorkshire, that has the most ‘ghost’ sightings,” say Tombola. “Ranked 3rd on the list, it had the most reviews mentioning ghosts with 397 reviews mentioning ghosts.”

While it’s mostly used as a wedding venue, Craig y Nos Castle in Swansea is a Victorian-Gothic country house that was found to be filled with ghosts. Nothing beats a good ghost story on Halloween, so why not pay this castle a visit?

Home to Harry Potter-inspired events, dragon quests and an exciting history, Alnwick Castle is also among one of the scariest places to visit this Halloween.
