More than 100 partygoers attend illegal rave at £800-a-night Airbnb rental property in sleepy Kent village as neighbours tell of ‘night of chaos’

  • Illegal rave hosted at luxurious party pad in village of Bearsted, near Maidstone
  • Residents shared their tales of a night of chaos as police were called three times
  • Fight broke out after hundreds of revellers turned up, blocking streets with cars

Horrified families have shared their experiences of a ‘night of chaos’ after over 100 partygoers descended on an £800-a-night Airbnb for an illegal rave in a quiet village.

Police were called to the swish four-bed house in the sleepy Kent village of Bearsted after a fight broke out during the party.

It is believed a group of young people rented out the £800-a-night party pad, which features a jacuzzi and movie room, despite the Airbnb listing stating no parties or events were allowed.

Residents reported hearing thumping music from 10pm to 5am the following morning and said the surrounding roads were blocked by partygoers’ cars.

The property, which is listed on the holiday rental site, sleeps up to 10 people, but neighbours reported hundreds of revellers turning up at the house over the weekend.

Police officers were reportedly called three times, arriving only after hearing a fight had broken out at the house in Bearsted, near Maidstone.

One resident described the road where the party took place, as a ‘lovely, quiet, family street.’

She told KentOnline: ‘Nothing like this ever happens down here – it’s just unheard of.

‘The house is being rented on Airbnb, and they advertise it as maximum 10 people so obviously they were unaware this was going to happen.

‘But these people just descended on the place, and just kept coming all night long.

‘It was just thumping music all night long, shouting. It was just horrendous.

‘Our road and another road next to ours were just full of cars, and people were walking up and down.

‘There was a fight that kicked off, there was blood. I don’t know what happened to the poor lad who was on the floor.’

Officers in five police cars accompanied by dogs turned up at the party upon hearing about the fight, according to the neighbour.

A spokesperson from Kent Police said: ‘Officers were called at 4.26am on Saturday, May 30 to reports of a disturbance in Plantation Lane, Bearsted.

‘It is alleged several people were involved in a fight outside a property where a party had been held.

‘Officers attended and an investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances and identify any suspects. No injuries have been reported.’
