Annastacia Palaszczuk has made her first appearance at an official event with her new millionaire surgeon boyfriend with the pair hosting a swanky farewell dinner for the state’s Governor.
The Queensland Premier hosted a goodbye bash for departing Paul de Jersey on Monday evening. He will be replaced in just days by Ms Palaszczuk’s close ally, Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young.
During the weekday event, Ms Palaszczuk was joined by her new partner Dr Reza Adib, a high-profile surgeon who specialises in weight loss treatment including lap bands.
It was believed to be the first time Dr Adib – general and laparoscopic surgeon – has attended an official function on Ms Palaszczuk’s arm.
Dr Adib, a multi-millionaire, is the CEO of the Brisbane Obesity Clinic and previously worked at Royal Brisbane Hospital.
On his clinic’s website he boasts having performed more than 20,000 operations and more than 5,000 weight-loss procedures.
In an article published last month, Ms Palaszczuk said: ‘He is a gorgeous man.

The premier was dressed in a black and white shin-grazing dress with bright red boots, while her millionaire boyfriend wore a navy blue suit with a red tie
Dr Adib is the CEO of the Brisbane Obesity Clinic and boasts on his website that he has clients that travel for his surgery from all around the world
‘He is a very warm and caring, intelligent man with a great sense of humour, and we are just enjoying getting to know each other.’
Dr Adib’s website said he has studied in Australia, England, Scotland, France and Austria.
‘This broad international background puts him in a unique position to understand and treat a wide range of people from a variety of backgrounds and environments,’ it said.
‘Our patients travel from all over Australia to be under Dr Adib’s quality care, knowing they will achieve the best results.’

The Queensland leader was criticised after revealing their relationship given she was facing backlash for allowing the families of NRL players into the state, but lockingout everyone else.
Premier Palaszczuk, who has recently revealed her fertility battle after two broken marriages, was seen happily smiling alongside her new partner alongside a who’s who of Queensland’s elite.
The pair posed for pictures alongside outgoing governor Paul de Jersey and his wife Kay, as well as the departing chief justice Catherine Holmes and Speaker Curtis Pitt.

The incoming governor Dr Jeannette Young was nowhere to be seen after Premier Palaszczuk confirmed her appointment to the role in June.
In a statement, Ms Palaszczuk said: ‘Queenslanders have come to know Dr Young who has stood by my side during hundreds of COVID media conferences
‘The people of this state know she stood by their side too and kept us safe.
‘There is no-one more deserving of the title ”Her Excellency”.’

Awkwardly the premier sat opposition leader David Crisafulli on the same table as his former boss Campbell Newman and wife Lisa, despite Newman’s heavy public criticism of Crisafulli a few months ago.
Newman has been consistently vocal against his former protege, calling him directionless and saying the party has ‘lost its way’.

In one photograph the father of two had his arm around the smiling premier as she leaned in towards him on the course rail. In another they were seated together at a table inside.
The twice-married Premier Palaszczuk unveiled a glamorous makeover late last month during one of her daily Covid-19 press conferences, raising speculation there had been other changes in her private circumstances.
The 52-year-old has previously said her personal life had fallen by the wayside as a result of her political career and that her busy schedule made looking for love almost impossible.
‘It’s simply not true that we all need a partner to be fulfilled,’ she said two years ago.
‘It’s lovely when it’s the right person of course, but it is very possible to be single and very happy.’
