The Bank of England is recruiting a new chair for its Residential Property Forum.

The Bank says the post starts in 2022 and lasts for three years, adding that those who apply for the role must register their interest with the central bank by 11 February.

The forum monitors the residential property sector in the UK, looking out for issues that arise to provide insight on the housing and mortgage markets to the Bank.

Its members include house builders, investors, landlords, intermediaries, housing market commentators, estate agents and financial institutions.

Representatives from the Bank, the Financial Conduct Authority and government departments also come to its meetings and take part in discussions.

The outgoing chair of the forum is Andrew Baddeley-Chappell, who is also the chief executive of the National Custom and Self Build Association.

The body usually meets once a quarter, although extra meetings are called to examine specific topics if issues emerge.

The Bank says: “The work the forum supports our work to maintain financial stability in the UK. The chair will lead the debate on important issues affecting the housing and mortgage market.

They will have the opportunity to build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the industry.”

The Bank set up the forum in 2010. It works alongside the Commercial Property Forum, which the central bank also founded in 1997. It says both bodies inform the work of its Financial Policy Committee to maintain financial stability across the country.
