Chinese New Year, also known as Spring Festival or the Lunar New Year, is an annual 15-day celebration among Chinese communities.

It celebrates the beginning of a new year on a lunisolar Chinese calendar, with each featuring one of 12 Chinese zodiac animals that rotate yearly.

They are all linked to different elements and characteristics, which are believed to be inherited by those born that year.

The next Chinese New Year falls on 1 February 2022, with this year’s zodiac animal the Tiger.

Those born in the Year of the Tiger are supposed to be kind, adventurous and enthusiastic, but also aggressive, short-tempered and anxious.

They were born in 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010 and this year, 2022.

The Chinese New Year is a large and traditional celebration among immigrant communities around the world.
