Birmingham has the highest number of new homes and housing developments for sale in the UK, research has found.
As 2021 has seen the most new-build properties commissioned than in the past 20 years across the UK, HeatingForce.co.uk searched Zoopla for data to discover which UK cities have the highest number of new homes and housing developments currently for sale.
It found that out of the 5,624 new build properties and developments now available, 813 are in Birmingham – 26 per cent higher than Manchester, which is the next highest with 647.

Liverpool is ranked third with 544 and Salford fourth with 517. Fifth is Nottingham with 265, followed by Edinburgh (191, Leeds (174), Bristol (164), Glasgow (160) and Newcastle upon Tyne (141).
Alex Ion, in-house expert at HeatingForce.co.uk, said there are a number of benefits to living in a new-build property.
“All new build properties adhere to the latest government regulations and are constructed with up-to-date technology and materials, making them more energy efficient than older builds,” he said.
“In a study conducted by the Home Builders Federation it was found that new build buyers save an average of £629 per year on bills due to the more sufficient energy performance, making new builds better for the environment and your pocket.”
He also said they cost less to maintain, because they meet latest government regulations and offer warranties to cover structural defects, so they are likely to require less maintenance for repairs.
Alex said a new-build also allows buyers to swerve getting into a chain, can be one of the most frustrating aspects of buying a home. This makes purchasing new builds a quick, easy and transparent process, he added.
