The shipping-container mall group has agreed a lease to take over and redevelop the historic dockside O&M Sheds on Welsh Back, in the city centre.

Spread over 20,000sq ft, Boxhall Bristol will have seven kitchens and feature two terrace areas overlooking the waterside.

Alongside the food offer, it will provide a community-led programme of events in collaboration with local homegrown talent and partners, as well as competitive socialising experiences.

“We are thrilled to announce our brand new Boxhall concept launching in Bristol next year,” says Roger Wade, Boxpark CEO and founder.

“It has been an incredibly difficult year but we remained optimistic during the pandemic and used the time to progress our expansion plans.

“Our team has worked extremely hard to secure our first site outside of London and this is a huge milestone for the Boxpark family.”

Earlier this year, Boxpark, which currently has three London locations in Shoreditch, Croydon and Wembley, announced that its growth plans would concentrate on the development of the Boxhall concept.

In comparison to Boxpark, Boxhall sites are designed to be smaller F&B-focused destinations featuring between six and 12 street food vendors.

Cordwell Property Group will deliver the Bristol development, with Boxpark partnering with Macaulay Sinclair to oversee the interior design.

Opportunities for prospective tenants include turn-key kitchen solutions with turnover-only licenses, meaning they can begin trading without the barrier of vast capital outlay.
