MUSEUM TO HOST WORKSHOP: The Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor will host a free Toolbox Workshop on grant writing and funding for small organizations 1 p.m. Saturday.
Meghan Reed, director of the Trumbull County Historical Society, presents. The center at 151 W. Wood St., adjacent to Youngstown State University, hosts workshops to provide small museums and history organizations insight into field practices.

SBA ANNOUNCES CALL FOR NOMINATIONS: Nominations are being accepted for the 2022 National Small Business Week Awards. The awards recognize the achievements of SBA-assisted small businesses and the contributions they have made to their communities and our nation’s economy.
All nominations should be submitted electronically by 3 p.m. Jan 11. The awards will be presented during a ceremony in the first week of May 2022.

EVENT AT WILLIAMSON: The Williamson College of Business Administration will host the Youngstown State University Accounting and Auditing Update 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 10. This year’s update will be held on campus and online. Registration is 8 to 8:30 a.m.
The update is approved by the AICPA for eight hours of CPE education for Ohio and Pennsylvania. The registration fee is $225 and registration is online at ysu.edu/accountingseminars.
The course covers relevant pronouncements, exposure drafts and other guidance recently issued in the accounting, auditing, review and compilation arenas. Information on auditing, accounting concepts, trends, and rulings affecting public and private sectors also will be covered.

COMPANY MARKS MILESTONE: American Business Center Inc., a provider of office equipment and solutions to companies in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, marked its 40th anniversary in October.
To celebrate, the locally owned and operated Youngstown company held a ribbon cutting at its 7677 South Ave. location on Oct. 21, the date of the anniversary.
AMARII EXTENDS PROJECT CALL: AMARII, the Advanced Manufacturing and Applied Research Innovation Institute is extending the project call for open projects for advanced manufacturing projects that, if funded, would positively impact the northeast Ohio economy. The new deadline is Dec. 22.
Project ideas may encompass manufacturing, machining, process improvement, automation, supply-chain enhancement, energy and energy efficiency, technology enhancement, cost reduction, etc.
Priority consideration will be given to ideas that demonstrate the ability to advance manufacturing technologies, promote job growth and retention and strengthen economic competitiveness for Mahoning Valley businesses.
AMARII was established to advance manufacturing technologies in northeast Ohio. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining, the parent organization of America Makes in downtown Youngstown.
Projects will be assessed to determine if AMARII can identify potential funding sources such as the Department of Defense, Department of Energy, Office of Economic Adjustment, as well as state, regional and local funding.

PREMIER BANK BRINGS ON MANAGER: Premier Bank recently added Alicia Miller as vice president, communications and marketing manager.
Miller, who brings with her nearly 20 years of marketing experience in the financial industry, most recently served as vice president, director of marketing strategy and planning for a regional bank headquartered in Detroit, where she managed a line of business marketing efforts.
In her new role, Miller will be responsible for the management of corporate communications and also the marketing segments of wealth and commercial.
RECOVERY BOARD ADDS STAFF: The Mahoning County Mental Health and Recovery Board is expanding its team with the addition of four new employees: Valerie Burney, Lee DeVita, Tracey Moracco and Michelle Werth.
Werth serves as the new clinical specialist; DeVita joins as a program coordinator; Burney joins in a new role as the community engagement and outreach coordinator; and Moracco as an administrative assistant and prevention trainer.
BURGAN ADDS TO BUNCH: Canfield-based Burgan Real Estate recently added Russell Themar, 19, to its team of Realtors.
Themar, a graduate of Springfield High School, brings a Gen Z perspective to Burgan to help the firm adjust its business and philosophies to a younger target audience, said co-owner and broker, Patrick Burgan.
