Caanabis plants were found at a property in County Durham following reports from members of the public.

Officers in Bishop Auckland were alerted by members of the public who reported suspicious activity at an address in Kent Street, Leeholme, on Monday.

After conducting checks on the address, officers applied for a magistrates’ warrant and yesterday (Wednesday), that warrant was executed with cannabis plants discovered in one of the bedrooms and loft of the property.

The electricity had also been bypassed making the address dangerous.

He was interviewed and has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Inspector Craig Fenwick said: “Illegal drugs grows pose a serious risk to our communities both with the drugs in circulation and the danger caused by bypassing electricity metres.

“We will always act on intelligence given to us by the community and would like to thank those who reported this to us.”
