New Adventures is an iconic, ground-breaking British dance-theatre company, founded by celebrated choreographer Matthew Bourne, famous for telling stories with a unique theatrical twist. Since 1987, New Adventures has changed the popularity of dance in Britain, creating works that have altered the public perception of what is possible when it comes to telling stories without words.

New Adventures was established as a charity in 2008 and joined Arts Council England’s National Portfolio in 2015. The company tours nationally and internationally, our award-winning repertoire inspiring and thrilling millions of people worldwide. We are passionate about diversifying the dance landscape and investing in the future of dance through delivering inclusive projects for people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds alongside development opportunities for emerging artists. We deliver a wealth of transformative programmes year-round.

We are seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) who will be accountable for the human resources, financial and operational sustainability and efficiency of New Adventures, both the charity and its subsidiary companies. They will ensure that all regulatory and statutory requirements are met, and the necessary operational systems are in place across all areas of the business to deliver the highest possible standards.

In this newly created role, the COO will have lead responsibility for staff development and for promoting an engaged and positive workplace culture, ensuring best practice and the highest possible standards in all areas of activity.

We encourage and welcome candidates from different backgrounds with different experiences, skills and stories to apply, particularly individuals who are underrepresented in the cultural sector. We are happy to discuss solutions that allow people to balance their caring responsibilities with their working lives, for example through job shares or flexible working.
