UK job vacancies have hit a record high as payrolls rebound to pre-covid levels.
The number of payroll employees in the United Kingdom has showed another monthly increase, up 241,000 to 29.1 million in August 2021 – a return to pre-pandemic levels.
However, the number of job vacancies in June to August 2021 was 1,034,000, which is the first time vacancies have risen over 1m since records began and is now 249,000 above the January to March 2020 level.
According to the Government Find A Job website, there are 106 jobs available in Stamford, 67 in Bourne and 21 in Market Deeping. In Rutland there are 134 jobs available, 115 of which are in Oakham and 20 in Uppingham.
Minister for Welfare Delivery Will Quince said: “We know that the best route out of poverty is through work, and with more than 1m vacancies, our multi-billion pound Plan for Jobs – including 13,500 new work coaches – is ensuring those on Universal Credit who are able to can move into work or increase their hours.”
The latest alternative claimant count statistics show that the number of people claiming is down on year, comparing May 2021 figures to May 2020.
The Alternative Claimant Count measures the number of people in the searching for work conditionality group.
In South Kesteven, overall claimants are down by 23 per cent to 3,525 people, suggesting 1,061 more people are in work.
The number of claimants aged between 18 and 24 has also seen a drop of 23 per cent down to 662.
However, in August the overall number of Universal Credit claimants in the district has risen slightly by 113 cases, to 10,732.
Minister for Employment Mims Davies MP said: “As we continue to push ahead with our recovery, it’s great to see another significant fall in unemployment and the number of people on payrolls rising by 241,000 in August – the biggest monthly increase on record – showing our Plan for Jobs is working.
“We’re helping employers recruit for the record number of vacancies out there, particularly in growing sectors, and supporting people of all ages and backgrounds to overcome barriers, land their next role, and progress in work.”
The number of claimants in Rutland has also fallen in the latest figures published this week, down by 19 per cent to 659 people. Two less people are using Universal Credit in Rutland than the previous month.
Lincolnshire Jobcentres are supporting Amazon with recruitment for their seasonal vacancies, working with them to provide interview facilities, recruitment days and preparing candidates.
Following 75 people being referred to a Sector Based Work Academy Programme with Anglian Water, which was heavily oversubscribed, a second date is also being set up.
