From the animal print, orange leather and Minnie-Mouse-at-the-baby-grand-piano vibe of a snazzy Worsley mansion to the penthouse flat with a pool on the 44th floor – these are Greater Manchester’s most viewed properties this year.

After Rightmove, the UK’s biggest property website, revealed its top online hits nationally, the Manchester Evening News secured a regional breakdown.

According to Tim Bannister, the firm’s data lead, 2021 has been the ‘busiest’ first half of a year ever, with the ‘nation’s obsession with property and searching for a dream home’ an enduring theme.

Here are the properties in Greater Manchester that have captured the viewing hearts of online house hunters.

Number One

In at number one is the appropriately named ‘Lion House’ on Worsley’s Ellenbrook Road.

Listed for £4.5m, the 7,000 sqft property sits alongside the 5,000 sqft Oakmont House, also thrown into the deal, and includes all furniture, fixtures, fittings and furnishings – many of which are animal-printed.

Fully renovated in 2015, there are two reception rooms, an office, two downstairs guest toilets and a kitchen.

The ‘cinema room’ meanwhile, includes a large fitted screen, eight sound speakers in the walls and ceilings, mood lighting with a starlight ceiling, electric reclining chairs and – in adherence with the wildlife code – ‘grass cloth wall coverings’ which were imported from the USA.

There’s even a blingy bar with a karaoke machine, as well as a garage and two utility rooms.

Upstairs there are four bedrooms.

There are also ‘stunning’ private and landscaped gardens.

The development even comes with an expansion pack; there’s planning permission for a further four detached properties.

Number Two

Next up is this £1.65m five-bedroom home – again, in leafy Worsley.

Described as an ‘elegant Tudor style detached home’, it’s in a gated development on Chatsworth Road.

Featuring a ‘stunning’ staircase with glass balustrade and a ‘sumptious’ lounge, as well as ‘stunning’ flooring, this property has all the adjectives.

There’s also a kitchen with instant hot water, a built-in wine cooler, underfloor heating and bi-fold doors opening to a terraced garden.

A bar, downstairs loo, cloakroom, and utility room complete the ground floor, while upstairs are five double bedrooms, including a master suite with dressing area and two en-suite bathrooms.

A garage converted to a gym completes this ‘picture-perfect’ house near the Bridgewater Canal.

Number Three

Five bedrooms are also the order of the day with the next most-viewed home, siutated in Rhodes Green and looking like the star attraction of a Christmas card in this snowy picture.

Bradley Hall could be yours for £1.5m, and Hunters estate agents say it offers a ‘quite exceptional level of gracious and high specification living’ – in a semi-rural location.

With a hallway, sitting room, dining room, kitchen diner, sun room, and guest loo downstairs, and five bedrooms upstairs, there’s also a garage, plant room and workshop close by.

There are landscaped gardens and a water feature, as well as a children’s play area in this electric-gated property.

Number Four

Next up is Brooklands Lodge – a 12-bedroom family home in Sale on at £1.29m.

It would need to be converted for this purpose – subject to permissions and obtaining change of use – or it’s suggested on the advert that investors could turn it into a house of multiple occupation.

With period features, a modern kitchen and dinding room and a bay-fronted lounge, it’s set in 0.3 acres of grounds and lots of parking.

Number Five

The final property in the line-up is this £1.47m penthouse flat in Manchester city centre – with panoramic views of the skyline.

This three-bedroom home on Crown Street is part of the luxury ‘Victoria Residence’. Within walking distance of Deansgate, it features an open planned living space with kitchen, thee double bedrooms, and two bathrooms.

There’s a residents lounge, two gardens overlooking the city and a gym and swimming pool on the 44th floor.

The apartment is leasehold with an area size of 3834 sq. ft.

Parking is available – but, and as with so many things in this dog-eat-dog world – you’d have to pay extra.
