Large employers across the Phoenix metro area continue to hire in response to general staffing needs and the upcoming holiday shopping season.
Here are some companies seeking to add a couple hundred or more workers locally:
Supermarket chain seeks help
Fry’s Food Stores plans to fill 2,300 full- and part-time positions across Arizona in coming weeks and will hold a hiring event from noon to 3 p.m. Oct. 13 in stores and online at jobs.kroger.com.
The supermarket chain is seeking clerks, department managers, e-commerce workers, pharmacy representatives and others. Veterans are encouraged to apply, along with high school and college students, retirees and people with disabilities.

The company offers health and retirement benefits, competitive wages and other incentives including a $100 Covid-19 vaccine payment and discounts on groceries, electronics, entertainment-streaming services and travel.
Casino resorts hiring
Casino Arizona and Talking Stick Resort are seeking to hire 300 people and are offering sign-on bonuses worth $1,500 for some openings.
Talking Stick Resort, an enterprise of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, will host a job fair from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 26 for positions there and at sister property Casino Arizona. The job fair will be held near the Salt River Grand Ballroom.
The Scottsdale entertainment venues are seeking bartenders, bussers, cage technicians, office representatives, bakers and more. Select positions eligible for the $1,500 bonus include cooks, room attendants, security officers, cage cashiers and kitchen stewards.

Financial firm USAA adding staff
USAA, an insurance and financial company that serves military families, is looking to hire 2,600 people nationally, including 200 in Phoenix. Among incentives, the company has increased its minimum pay to $21 an hour from $16. Employees also can receive a 401(k) retirement match, a pension and other benefits.
Many of the open positions offer the option to work in a hybrid or remote setting.
Open positions include member-service representatives, auto and property claims adjusters, data engineers, data scientists, IT analysts, software engineers and underwriters.

Target hiring for supply chain
Retailer Target plans to create 30,000 new jobs throughout its supply chain facilities, including 1,200 distribution-center positions in the Phoenix and Tucson metro areas.
Open positions range from hiring managers to warehouse and operational support staff. Supply chain members move products from suppliers to stores to keep shelves stocked.
While all Target team members receive a starting wage of at least $15 an hour, distribution-center positions in Tucson and Phoenix will pay at least $16.65 an hour.
