A fundraising page has been set up to help those affected by a devastating fire in north Cumbria that affected multiple properties.

The GoFundMe page was set up by members of the community centred on the New Linton Holme Inn just off Linton Street where the fire took place on Friday June 18.

Appliances from Carlisle East and Carlisle West, were mobilised to reports of a property fire on Linton Street, Carlisle, at approximately 15.05pm.

At least three homes were severely damaged, and houses on either side of these were also affected.

The description on the fundraising page says: “We at the New Linton holme inn are trying to raise money to help those affected to rebuild their lives after the devastating Unfortunate Events.

“All money raised will be shared accordingly to to those affected to rebuild what has been lost.

“Among those that have been affected are vital key workers who have worked tirelessly during the covid pandemic supporting our local community.

“These include NHS staff and local authority workers.

“These people have helped our community when we needed it most. We feel that it would be great to support these families at their time of need.”

Any donations, no matter how small will be greatly appreciated and will be used to help families rebuild their lives after this tragic incident.

So far, the fundrasing page has helped to raise £960.
