From December 28 businesses with fully vaccinated employees and customers will benefit from:
* The removal of density restrictions for all seated indoor venues
* 3 people per 4 sqm capacity for standing indoor venues
* 1 person per 2 sqm capacity for fitness venues and nightclubs
“The easing of restrictions for restaurants, cafes and bars and will bring more people through hospitality venue doors, improving business profitability and creating more jobs,” said Minister for Innovation and Skills David Pisoni.
“This is good news for the businesses, the people they employ and the general public who will enjoy greater access to their favourite restaurants, cafes and bars.
“Whilst South Australia’s economy has coped remarkably well during the pandemic with record numbers of people in work and nation leading growth of 3.9 per cent, many businesses have been doing it tough.
“The fact that restrictions are now set to ease before we bring in the new year is particularly good news for hospitality venues across South Australia.
“The Marshall Government recognises the importance of the hospitality sector and has invested more than $38 million to subsidise training for 4,600 chefs, bar staff and waiters employed in the sector.
“This latest boost for the South Australian economy comes after the latest ABS data detailed strong jobs growth.
“There are now a record number of people in jobs (884,500), a record number of people in full-time jobs (576,600) and record number of hours worked (118.8 million) as confidence in the South Australian economy reaches an all-time high.
“Throughout 2021 South Australia has outperformed the nation in respect of an increase in employment, both full and part-time, an increase in the participation rate and a decrease in the unemployment rate.
“In 2021 South Australia has created 39,600 new jobs, of which 26,500 have been full-time and 13,100 are part-time.
“The number of unemployed people in South Australia has fallen by 20,000 during 2021 as the participation rate has increased by 1.2 per cent.”
