Local housing provider Irwell Valley Homes continues to deliver new affordable homes in Bury with residents moving into 19 new affordable homes on Water Street in Radcliffe.
The new development which received funding support from Homes England, provides 19 one and two-bedroom homes for affordable rent to meet the growing demand in the area. Built to the latest eco-friendly standards, the homes benefit from efficient air source heat pumps which cost less to run than traditional heating systems and use less energy and are better for the environment.
Bury is a key area for Irwell Valley Homes. They already provide affordable homes and services to over 1,300 homes in the area and over the past few years they have invested £x building more affordable homes. This includes 19 homes at Lowther Park, Prestwich, and five eco-homes on Siddall Street in Radcliffe. With the Water Street development under their belts, they now have their sights on the next development at Morris Street which will provide 25 houses available for affordable rent and shared ownership.
In total Irwell Valley Homes are committed to delivering 1,250 new affordable homes across Greater Manchester to address local housing shortages over the next few years. Sasha Deepwell, Chief Executive of Irwell Valley Homes, said “As part of our current development programme we have already invested £7.5m in the Bury and we are committed to delivering more new homes. We know the difficulties people have accessing a home they can afford in the area, so we are delighted to have completed these new homes at Water Street, providing people with high quality, affordable housing.
Councillor Clare Cummins, Bury Council’s cabinet member for housing services, said: “Our housing strategy aims to ensure that there are enough properties across Bury to cater for all household types: single people, families, elderly and disabled people. We are delighted to be working with Irwell Valley, and to see new homes being built on brownfield sites and to high eco-standards.”
