How much the properties in Netflix’s Sex Education are worth – and three are in Wales 

Sex Education has quickly become one of Netflix’s greatest successes, as the hit show has taken the world by storm.

The binge-worthy series follows the lives of the students, staff, and parents of the fictitious Moordale Secondary School as they explore relationships, sexual intimacy, and scandal.

The UK based series starring Gillian Anderson, Asa Butterfield, and Emma Mackey is set all across the UK, including filing in at least three properties in Wales.

Experts at WeThrift calculated estimated list prices for six Sex Education filming locations.

From the grandeur of Aimee’s manor home to the Norwegian charm of the Otis Milburn’s, it’s hard not to be intrigued.

Here’s how much it would cost to buy the Moordale School, Otis & Jean’s house and other Sex Education properties if they came on the market today.

Moordale School

Location: Caerleon campus – South Wales, Newport

Value: £43,740,580

Key facts: Caerleon campus, better known as ‘Mooredale School’ to Sex Education fans, is a 32-acre plot with 20th-century brickwork and an iconic clock tower that provides a pivotal point in many scenes throughout the series.

The building was once a part of the University of Wales but has been vacant since 2016, making it the perfect location to redecorate inside with the Anglo-American touches of the series like school lockers, banners and bunting presenting the ’Moordale’ logo.

Otis & Jean’s House

Location: The Chalet, Symonds Yat East – Herefordshire

Value: £2,927,925

Key facts: Arguably the most famous property that features on Sex Education is Otis and Jean Milburn’s statement-red three-story home.

The 100-year-old house boasts traditional Norwegian-inspired architecture, five bedrooms, three bathrooms, a large conservatory and two living rooms that overlook the balconies; with one offering picturesque views of the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean. The chalet is even available to rent for a woodland retreat through the website, with a 4-night minimum stay costing you £2,995.

Aimee’s house

Location: Bigsweir House – Gloucestershire

Key facts: ‘Aimee’s house’, known in real life as Bigsweir House, is first seen in all its glory at Aimee Gibbs’ super-dramatic house party in season 1 that gave fans a glimpse into the stately mansion.

The 18-century Grade II-listed property was rebuilt in 1740 and has a stunning sandstone exterior; the view from the house is also beautiful as it overlooks the scenic River Wye. The house is currently occupied by Caroline Hopkinson, who said “we thoroughly enjoyed having the crew here”, with her son even gaining a part as an extra in the series.

Mountainside Military School

Location: Margam Country Park and Castle – Port Talbot

Value: £1,278,272

Key facts: Whilst the ‘Mountainside Military School’ is recognised as the place Adam Groff was shipped off to against his will, it’s hard to ignore the stunning architecture of the estate known in the real world as Margam Country Park and Castle.

The 19th-century Tudor gothic mansion is a Grade I listed building and boasts everything you’d expect from a castle, including an octagonal tower, vast staircase hall, library, grand dining room, drawing room and orangery.

Eric’s House

Location: Old Farm House Mews – Herefordshire

Value: £187,177

Key facts: ‘Eric’s house’ is a privately-owned property known as Old Farm House Mews in the Wye Valley.

Whilst the show rarely shows the exterior of the house, the inside of the house sees retro wallpaper adorning Eric’s bedroom, the living room and the kitchen, showcasing a variety of floral, diamond and striped patterns in muted oranges and pinks.

Maeve’s Caravan

Location: Sterrett’s Caravan Park, Symonds Yat – Herefordshire

Value: £35,750

Key facts: ‘ Maeve Wiley’s caravan’ is a key location in the series and is the setting for some of the show’s very dramatic moments but also the most truthful glimpses of the loveable outsider Maeve, at her most vulnerable.

The caravan is located at Sterrett’s Caravan Park in Symonds Yat, sitting close by to the River Wye and whilst it may not be much to look at, it’s perfect for super fans looking to live like Maeve Wiley.

Wales Online also reported about an award-winning mansion ‘Stormy Castle’, in Gower which was once awarded the title of Britain’s best new home.

We see the stunning three-bed home, which was designed by Cardiff-based architects Loyn & Co in the scenes where the Groff brothers are reunited after Michael is kicked out by wife, Maureen. There’s also the epic scene where Michael stands up to his bully of a brother and tells him a few home truths at a dinner party, a scene which showcases the amazing views from the floor-to-ceiling windows of the property which was billed as a ‘modern castle.’
