Austin Andrews and Jori Kerr left their home in Oregon and began travelling the world, documenting their adventures on TikTok.

Although they saved for years for flights and other expenses, they finally made it happen after stumbling upon Trusted House Sitters, a website that pairs pet sitters with owners in need of help.

In return for their pet sitting services, the couple got free lodging, which in turn allowed them the travel the world.

They revealed to Insider that although they use Andrew’s family home as a base in-between excursions, they hope to eventually travel full-time.

Jori said: “We both love pets, so instantly we were just super excited,”

The couple decided to take the risk and quit their jobs after signing up for annual membership to the site, which costs between £102 to £205.

They first decided to just tip their toes in, doing small pet sitting jobs in their hometown.

“The biggest thing for us was starting local,” Austin explained.

“We just weren’t sure what to expect going into a stranger’s house.”

Once they got a feel for how the site and petting sitting gigs work, they began to apply for international jobs.

They didn’t have much luck at first, but when a job in Grenada popped up they secured the role after a video interview.

“We were like, ‘this is everything we’ve been waiting for,'” Jori said.

“It was just such a proud moment for us really and very exciting.”

Since their Grenada travels, the couple have completed loads of other pet sitting trips, and are always on the look out for their next one.

In fact, in the six months since joining the site the duo have travelled to Germany, Gibraltar, Grenada, and the United States.

“It can be intimidating to take this leap and it can be a bit of a bummer when you get declined for these sits that you put a lot of effort into, but being persistent and showing dedication goes a really long way,” Jori confessed.

“We love this way of life so much that we hope we can make it permanent,” she added.
