Swedish national pension fund AP4, South Korea’s National Pension Service (NPS) and Texas Permanent School Fund have jointly won the Global Real Estate Investor of the Year at the IPE Real Estate Global Conference & Awards 2021 in Copenhagen.

Texas Permanent School Fund, the $46.7bn (€39.4bn) US sovereign fund, also won the North America, Indirect Strategy and Investment in North America categories at the event.

AP4 also won the themed award for Investment in Europe, while NPS picked up the regional Asia-Pacific award for the second year in a row.

Nathalie Palladitcheff, president and CEO of Ivanhoé Cambridge, picked up the award for Outstanding Industry Contribution.

Palladitcheff has held her current role at the real estate arm of Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec since 2019, having joined as executive vice president in 2015 before being appointed president in 2018.

APG picked up the Real Assets & Infrastructure Investor of the Year. Real assets accounts for 26% of the Dutch pensions asset manager’s €567bn portfolio, of which 31% is allocated to real estate and 12% to infrastructure.

British Airways Pension Fund won the Large Real Estate Investor of the Year award in addition to the Core & Core-Plus Strategies and the UK & Ireland trophies.

CPP Investments, the investment arm of the Canada Pension Plan, won four awards: Investment in Asia-Pacific, Investment in Emerging Markets, Listed Strategy, and the brand new award for Commitment to Diversity.

In 2019, CPP Investments reached 50/50 gender-balanced hiring, and possesses Women in Governance Gender Parity certification. At present, 33% of its senior management team and more than half of its board members are female. CCP Investments has set diversity targets for 2025 that include a straight 50/50 spilt for all new personnel.

This year’s IPE Real Estate Global Awards attracted over 160 entries across all categories.

From 16 countries around the world, the total market value of the institutional investors that took part was more than €4.1trn, while collectively their real estate and real assets under management exceeded €360bn.

They competed in 31 categories split by theme, region and size.
