Jobless Graduates Turn Fake Cops To Cheat People With ‘job Offers’ | Ludhiana News

Ludhiana: Left jobless even after completing their graduation, five youths chose to turn imposters in khaki to earn easy money by “assuring jobs” to people. Among them, one youth donned the uniform similar that of a DSP and others had got uniforms resembling that of a sub-inspector and constables. But the gang soon ran out of luck as the police got information about them through their informers.
Jodhan police arrested five miscreants identified as Harkamal Singh of Phallewal, his cousin Kulbir Singh of Bhani Baringa village, Gurpreet Singh, Livtar Singh, both of Manvi village, and Jashmandeep Singh of Lehra.
Police officials said Chappar police post in-charge ASI Sukhmandar Singh, ASI Sukhjit Singh along with police officials got a tip-off about the gang when they keeping an eye on suspicious persons and vehicles at Society Chowk at Chappar on Sunday night. According to the informers, the accused were travelling in an SUV with a sticker of Punjab Police and wearing “uniforms” of DSP, sub-inspectors and constables. The gang was travelling from Judaha Chowk to Phallewal and other villages.
Cops said according to informers, the accused were making fool of innocent people by assuring jobs to them. Acting on the information, police acted promptly and set up a checkpost at Judaha Chowk Phallewal and stopped the SUV.
Police party found them wearing uniforms of Punjab Police and even recovered a fake joining letter from them. ASI Sukhmandar Singh said the accused were arrested on Sunday night and later booked under Sections 171 (Wearing garb or carrying token used by public servant with fraudulent intent), 419 (Punishment for cheating by impersonation), 465 (punishment for forgery) and 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
They were produced in a local court on Monday which remanded them to 4-day police custody. Police said further probe is under way.
Police post incharge said all the accused persons were graduates, but were unemployed. They didn’t have any previous police case against them.
