THIEVES have stolen electrical equipment from Kingston Lacy’s Christmas display.

The National Trust property near Wimborne said it was “disappointed” to have to cancel the final two nights of its festive display.

Ticket holders have been left unable to attend the events on Saturday, January 1, and Sunday, January 2.

Police are reportedly investigating the incident.

Responding to a member of the public on social media, a spokesperson said: “Sadly due to a theft of electrical equipment central to the Christmas at Kingston Lacy illuminated trail, we are disappointed to have to cancel the last two nights of the display.

“The National Trust is working with the police to assist them with their investigations.”

In a statement on its Facebook page, Kingston Lacy said: “Due to unforeseen circumstances the Christmas at Kingston Lacy illuminated light event has been cancelled today (01/01) and tomorrow (02/01).

“All ticket holders will be contacted by SeeTickets shortly. Our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.”

The trail, held in the grounds of the estate, opened on December 3, 2021 and was due to run until January 2, 2022.

It features specially chosen illuminations, all choreographed to a soundtrack of Christmas classics.

The National Trust said that the rest of the property was open as usual.
