An East Kilbride-based hospice is celebrating their partnership with a local business who have raised more than £25,000 for the charity in the last three years.

Kilbryde Hospice teamed up with The Property Store who have been avid supporters and fundraisers for the charity, helping it to continue its vital work.

The property business celebrated its 21st birthday in 2021 and held a small party with a representative from Kilbryde Hospice invited along.

It is also a landmark year for the hospice, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.

Kilbryde provides end of life care and support to patients with life limiting illnesses and their families in its state-of-the-art facility in the grounds of Hairmyres Hospital.

And the Property Store, in East Kilbride’s Village, has been more than happy to support such a tremendous cause.

Director, Lorri Robb, told Lanarkshire Live : “As director of Property Store, I have been delighted to support Kilbryde Hospice.

“We decided to make staff involvement in raising awareness one of our core values and this has had a positive impact on the business with staff coming together to share goals that are not work related.

“As a company we support many charities however the reason we chose to be corporate ambassadors for Kilbryde was we could see first-hand the tangible difference our fundraising has made to local families in the community.

“The Property Store celebrated 21 years of business this year and as the hospice celebrates its major milestone, we hope we will continue to work together for many years to come.”

“The hospice don’t just look for a donation, they’ve taken a genuine interest in our business and the fundraising team have been exceptional at supporting and guiding us at every turn.

“All our staff make a commitment to fundraise for Kilbryde and supporting each other through those numerous events has created a real bond within our group as well as simply being great fun.”

A spokeswoman for Kilbryde Hospice said: “We have been delighted to work with Lorri, Euan and the team at the Property Store over the years.

The business has been an avid supporter of the hospice

“Their dedication, loyalty and support has not gone unnoticed by myself and the entire hospice and we are so pleased that they continue to support Kilbryde Hospice.

“The team have taken on some incredible fun and tough challenges over the years from their 24hour cycle, sponsored walk dressed as Shrek and Donkey, to an abseil at Fir Park.

“I am extremely grateful for all the support the Property Store has given and we hope this relationship goes from strength to strength.”

The Kilbryde Hospice Appeal was established in 2001 by Tony McGuinness and Dr John Richards to help tackle the lack of palliative care beds within South Lanarkshire.

Now, they provide day services, care at home and counselling services from their building, which opened in January 2015 after years of battling to secure it.

And in 2018 the Donna Mortimer Ballantyne in-patient wing was officially opened by her family.

An appeal – spearheaded by the East Kilbride News – saw the hospice’s future secured after Covid decimated their fundraising activities.

They suffered losses of up to £90,000 per month as lockdown took hold of the country but the community rallied around to answer their plea for help.
