Northern Irish coffee and food chain Bob & Berts has opened its latest store in North West England – at a Greater Manchester shopping centre – creating 35 jobs.

The business has transformed an empty 3,500 sq ft unit in The Rock shopping centre in Bury into a new coffee shop.

Following a £2m investment from BGF in 2017, the business, which was founded in Portstewart in Northern Ireland in 2013, has grown to 25 sites across the UK. In the last 12 months it has opened its first three sites in North West England in Lancaster, Kendal and Preston.

Colin McClean, founder of Bob & Berts, said: “We’ve made a significant investment in transforming the Bury site to create a location that’s completely unique in the town and will offer customers an extensive range of great grub and proper coffee served all day long in our relaxed surroundings.”

David Ferguson, co-owner of Bob & Berts, added: “We’re really pleased with the new store, which is our fourth opening in England in the last 12 months.”

The independent chain also currently has five sites in Scotland, and will open its sixth Scottish store in Perth in May 2022. It takes the total number of stores across the UK to 26.

For the next phase of expansion, the business is looking at other North West locations including Southport, Lytham St Annes, Blackpool and Carlisle.
