Lawyers and climate change: leaders or followers?

Friday 29 October 2021

What is COP26?

For nearly three decades the UN has been bringing together almost every country on earth for global climate summits, called COPs, which stands for ‘Conference of the Parties’. With the UK as President, COP26 takes place in Glasgow, and has been described as ‘the world’s best last chance to get runaway climate change under control.’

What is the Lawscot COP26 Conference?

On the eve of COP26 in Glasgow the Law Society of Scotland will bring together lawyers from across the globe, in-person and via remote attendance, to discuss the role of the lawyer on environmental impact.

Why attend?

As the topic of climate change constantly grows in importance in political and legal spheres, the role of the lawyer in advising clients and influencing policy comes ever more sharply into focus. With COP26 happening in Glasgow this autumn there’s never been a better time for you to discuss and debate the unique position the legal profession has to tackle climate change.
