Continuing her party’s poll campaign for the second day on Thursday, Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati targeted the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, Samajwadi Party and Congress, holding them responsible for the large-scale exodus of job-seeking people from Uttar Pradesh.

Addressing a gathering in Ghaziabad, the BSP supremo said that the BJP, Congress and SP had failed in providing employment to the youths as a result of which the state witnessed large-scale migration as people shifted to other states in search of jobs.

“Unemployment has been at the peak during the regimes of these parties in UP. People were hence forced to go to other states in search of employment. During the BSP regime, not only had the migration stopped, but people living in other states had started returning to their native places as they were confident of getting jobs to support their families,” she said.

Mayawati said that not only unemployment but poor law and order were the hallmarks of the SP and BJP regimes.

“Even if one goes by the crime figures of the National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB), one will easily notice that `jungle raj’ was prevalent during the tenures of both the BJP and SP. During BSP’s rule in the state, law and order was well under control and all listed criminals and mafia were in jail,” she said.

Mayawati said no riot took place in UP during the BSP regime and the state witnessed maximum development and progress. Besides, she said, atrocities against Dalit, tribals and backwards soared during the regimes of both the BJP and SP.

“I appeal to the public that for smooth law and order and for putting Uttar Pradesh back on path of development and progress, you should vote for Bahujan Samaj Party as only this party can ensure good governance,” she said.

To clear her party’s stand on various issues in the media, the BSP named Supreme Court lawyer Seema Kushwaha as its national spokesperson. Seema Kushwaha recently joined BSP.

Seema Kushwaha of Etawah, was the lawyer for the victim’s side in the Nirbhaya case of Delhi and she made a lot of headlines by taking the case to a logical end. An outspoken advocate of women’s rights, Kushwaha played an important role in ensuring justice to the aggrieved by lobbying from the lower court to Supreme Court in the Nirbhaya case.

Sources said that Kushwaha was also chosen by the BSP chief to target Maurya, Shakya, Kushwaha communities and tilt the party’s poll prospects in west Uttar Pradesh, Etawah and Bundelkhand regions.
