Wimpole Estate is about eight and a half miles southwest of Cambridge, and is made up of 3,000 acres of land, the historic mansion Wimpole Hall, and a working farm.
Owned by the National Trust, Wimpole Estate is regularly open to the public. It’s a great place to walk your dog, take a tour round Wimpole Hall, or to have a lazy picnic in the sun.
Wimpole Hall is the largest building in Cambridgeshire and a Grade I listed building that is over 350 years old, filled with fascinating history.
The grounds range from beautiful gardens and parkland to the two and a half mile grand avenue stretching away from the front of the Hall, all perfect spots for a lazy summer picnic.
Wimpole Estate was voted the best picnic spot in East Anglia by National Picnic Week, and proved a lifeline to Cambridgeshire residents over the last year as a great place to go for a walk when we were all still stuck inside.
