Bovis Homes will build 95 new homes in Coombe Hill near Cheltenham after purchasing land bordering the A38.

The housebuilder has secured outline planning consent to build 57 private and 38 affordable homes.

Bovis Homes, which along with Linden Homes and Vistry Partnerships is part of the Vistry Group, will invest more than £1.6m in local infrastructure and wildlife under its planning agreement.

Detailed plans showing the layout, house types and open spaces will soon be submitted to Tewkesbury Borough Council for approval.

Charles Bond, sales manager for Vistry Cotswolds, said: “Our development at Coombe Hill will help to meet the need for more high quality homes in this rural area. The private homes will appeal to people who are looking to live in a quiet location with excellent road and bus links to Cheltenham, Gloucester and Tewkesbury. The provision of affordable housing will ensure local people can afford to rent or share ownership of a home in Coombe Hill.”

Bovis Homes plans to build two, three and four-bedroom homes on the site, which sits close to a filling station with a small supermarket and The Swan at Coombe Hill pub.

The planning agreement for the development includes a community infrastructure levy of £1,488,848 paid by Bovis Homes. The developer will also contribute £111,249 to Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust, £19,759 to local library services, £33,321 for local drainage and £7,359 towards the provision of recycling and waste bins.
