TEESSIDE University has entered into a new partnership with The University of Law (ULaw) to provide specialist training opportunities to law graduates.
Teesside University and ULaw have signed a progression agreement which highlights how the institutions will collaborate to offer expert training to shape the next generation of qualified legal professionals.
As part of the agreement, Teesside University graduates will be able to access a tailored support package provided by ULaw that will assist them in transitioning to the next stage of solicitor qualification.
ULaw is an esteemed specialist provider for legal and business education, offering a range of interactive courses in which students learn from experienced industry experts. The latest development in ULaw’s expansion has been the launch of a satellite campus in Newcastle in September which is ideally located for Teesside students wanting to progress on to ULaw courses.

ULaw boasts an excellent reputation for professional relationships with high-profile law firms, which would provide outstanding work experience and progression opportunities for Teesside University graduates.
Another benefit of the new partnership is the annual scholarship opportunity for Teesside University graduates.
While these are mainly aimed towards law students and graduates, any Teesside University student who passes a Solicitors Qualification Exam (SQE) would also be eligible.

Teesside University offers a range of legal and business courses with facilities including a mock court and Teesside University Law Clinic, to deliver realistic and professional training.
It has relationships with a network of local law firms and the Tees Valley Law Society.

Matthew Tomlinson, Dean of The University of Law (Leeds, Sheffield and Newcastle campuses), and Larissa Hope, Campus Manager (Newcastle) at The University of Law, visited Teesside University to speak to staff and students about ULaw courses and the progression opportunities that are available to them.
Matthew said: “As a principal provider of legal education, we are very much looking at how we can support universities and develop this kind of progression route for students.
“To bring Teesside University and ULaw together will be of enormous value to the students, enabling them to access the best elements of each institution.
“They will have an extremely well-structured and supported degree here at Teesside, followed by a professional training element with ULaw.
“We hope that we are able to have the privilege of taking more and more Teesside students through to qualify as either a solicitor or a barrister, and to support them on that journey.”
