Mental Health Nurse Consultant

Permanent

Full time (37.5 hours per week)

Flexible office location: Home and working from one of our regional offices (national role)

Salary circa £60,000 per annum (depending on skills and experience) plus car allowance of £4609 per annum mileage for travel

As Nurse Consultant in this brilliant brand-new role at Home Group, you’ll help us shape the strategic direction of mental health nursing practice across our Transforming Care services, creating frameworks and extending the boundaries of excellence in our nursing care.  As senior leader, you’ll deliver and oversee specialist nursing assessments, formulations and interventions, managing clinical risk to aid the transition of care and support for customers with high risk needs. Our customers have a wide range of complex and interconnected needs including learning disabilities, autism, a diagnosis of mental health conditions, personality disorders, communication differences, alongside ongoing physical health conditions.  They may also have a forensic background and support needs related to their behaviour.

An expert in your field, you’ll coach and upskill our front line operational and clinical teams through expert nursing advice, training, clinical supervision and reflective practice to enhance their delivery of care.  You’ll ensure all practice is provided within legal, professional and ethical boundaries including the Treatment of Disease, Disorder and Injury. You’ll also oversee medication management including de-prescribing and leading on STOMP as well as embedding new interventions and practices aligned to our Living Independently Feeling Enabled (LIFE) support practice model.

You’ll report to Nic, our Director of Clinical Practice, who you’ll find outside of work getting out in the country for walks with her daughter and small but powerful Cavapoo. She has amazing vision for developing the future of new models of care and would love you to join her and the team on this journey.

Where you’ll work

The role will involve regular national travel so you must be willing to travel and work from our different services and offices, with some hybrid working from home too!  We have services in Kent, Swindon, Birmingham, St Albans and Leeds and growing this year in Hull, Norfolk and Surrey.  With more locations over the coming year. We’ll therefore need you have a current driving licence and access to a vehicle.   

You’ll participate in our on-call system as a senior point of escalation, on a rotation.

A bit about you

It goes without saying that you’ll be an experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse and expert practitioner, holding relevant professional qualifications and advanced level training in therapeutic interventions such as Independent Prescribing registration, DBT, CBT.  With extensive experience and knowledge in contemporary mental health practice, you’ll will have worked with a wide variety of customers across the full range of clinical severity, including customers with complex support needs.

You’ll have a brilliant background in providing clinical supervision and unleashing the potential of colleagues through your clinical advice, support and training.  You’ll also bring service design experience, successfully transitioning new practice into local service delivery.  You’ll also have a current driving licence and access to a vehicle for work.  We’ll pay for your mileage.

An Enhanced Disclosure Check will be required for this role and the costs of this will be met by us.
