Swanmore has been asked to find space for between 90 and 100 additional homes before the new Winchester Local Plan is published

A parish council that could see 100 new homes built in its village is urging residents to speak out before it is ‘too late’.

Swanmore has been asked to find space for between 90 and 100 additional homes before the new Winchester Local Plan is published.

But the parish council is eager to hear from locals, and will be hosting a number of public consultation sessions this week.

The Winchester Local Plan has a huge impact on the village, if we don’t have our say now it will be too late by the time the draft plan is circulated for comment later in the year, said a spokesperson. So please do take the time to pop in to one of the six drop-in sessions we are holding.

We appreciate it’s short notice, however Winchester’s planning team wants feedback by the end of April, and if you take away the Easter holidays, that leaves next week. Hopefully the six sessions allow for a time to suit most residents, the spokesperson said.

The drop in sessions will be at the Parish Council offices in New Road on April 6 and 7.

Every house in Swanmore will receive a leaflet on this in the coming days.

The leaflet distributor we planned to use is no longer available on our tight schedule, added the spokesperson.

So four of us from the Parish Council, including the chairman will be out and about getting some steps in, the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said: Fortunately, we have been given us all detailed walk routes, however, if we miss a house or you get two copies, go easy on us and we will do our best to rectify the situation.
