Following on from the recent recruitment of two new managers in Manchester and London, private equity fund Enact continues to expand with the recruitment of Alex Nicholls as an investment manager in Leeds.

He joins from the Turnaround and Restructuring Team of EY-Parthenon and will provide transaction support on new investment opportunities and specific projects within the existing Enact portfolio.

Chris Cormack, partner – Enact, said: “Enact continues to invest in the national team and Alex’s skillset provides additional support to deliver transformational equity finance to SME’s throughout the UK.

“Enact Fund II was launched in June 2019 and with eight portfolio investments to date, the fund is well placed to complete its capital deployment in early 2022.

“In the last 18 months, the team has grown significantly to underpin a national investment strategy from the three key offices of Leeds, Manchester and London.

“The team is now in place to support the existing portfolio of investments and continued deployment of Fund II, with a further fund raise for Enact III being finalised.”

Leeds-based One Commercial Specialty has appointed Philippa Wilkin into a newly created role of senior underwriter.

Wilkin joined the business in January 2022. She will report to Dan Mitchell and James Russell, joint managing directors.

Mitchell said: “It is great news for One Commercial that we have appointed such a well-regarded and experienced underwriter.

“Philippa brings a wealth of experience from her previous senior roles in the professional indemnity sector and will play a pivotal role in supporting our drive for profitable growth across our business.

“She is highly thought of in the market and we are delighted to have secured her expertise as part of the One Commercial Speciality Team.“

Wilkin said: “I am thrilled by the opportunity to join a team that is so focused on delivering for their clients, and excited to play a part in the next phase of the business’ growth and development.

Prior to joining One Commercial Specialty, Wilkin was solicitor’s product manager at Travellers Insurance Company Ltd, UK liability and professional lines underwriting manager at International Insurance Company of Hannover Ltd and a senior underwriter at Aviva.

She is also an entrepreneur with businesses offering corporate wellbeing, risk management and private coaching.

Leeds-based Legal Studio has taken on another new consultant, Sean McHale, who joins as construction and employment lawyer.

He qualified as a solicitor in 2015 at Levi Solicitors LLP in Leeds, having previously worked at Irwin Mitchell in Sheffield.

After qualification he worked at Hawkswell Kilvington, a specialist construction law firm, where he focused on resolving payment disputes, professional negligence matters and adjudication proceedings.

In late 2016 he returned to Levi Solicitors and set up an employment law practice at the firm as well as overseeing construction law matters.

McHale appeared at the Court of Appeal in relation to a high-value and complex construction dispute and regularly appeared in the Employment Tribunal in relation to unfair dismissal and discrimination claims.

He has dealt with a series of cases relating to media and defamation law alongside his employment and construction law practice and has also worked alongside The Vegan Society in vegan rights cases.

Hull-based 360 Chartered Accountants has revealed its new Board of Directors.

360 founder, Andy Steele, is chair of the Board and will be supported by managing director Adrian Hunter, human resources director Leanne Steele and Sophie Holmes, client services director.

Steele said: “This is a strategic move which places us in an even stronger position moving forward as we continue to develop our business during 2022.

“Our new board has been chosen to represent the wealth of experience, knowledge and commitment each individual has shown to the continued growth and success of 360.”

Hunter has recently taken on the newly created role of managing director after joining the firm in October as practice manager. He has over 25 years of experience in senior and strategic management roles in the finance, leisure and hospitality industries.

With nearly 20 years in management and training roles, Steele looks after all HR matters for 360 as well as overseeing all administration and the wellbeing of the 360 team.

Meanwhile, Holmes, who has risen through the ranks at 360, from apprentice to client services director, leads 360’s team of accountants, trainees and apprentices and ensures continued excellence in client service.

Hunter said: “We are already well positioned in Hull and East Yorkshire and have just opened our new office in York.

“We have lots of exciting challenges and opportunities ahead. We are confident that by working together we will continue to achieve our goals and serve both our current and future clients with the client-focused attention we are known for.”
