Plans to allow Bellway to build 190 homes in Bramford have been approved by Mid Suffolk District Council.
The council’s planning committee voted in favour of the detailed proposals for the new development at a meeting on Wednesday 13 October.
The decision means that planning permission will be formally granted once the terms of a legal agreement between Bellway and the local authority for the developer to provide funding for local services and infrastructure have been finalised.
Lockwood Place, as the development is to be known, will be built on a 32-acre site to the east of Loraine Way at the northern edge of the village.
The development will comprise 123 new homes consisting of a mix of two, three and four-bedroom houses for private sale, with 67 affordable homes for rent or shared ownership.
Richard Burrows, managing director of Bellway Essex, said: “Outline planning permission for the development was granted by Mid Suffolk District Council in 2019 and we are pleased that our detailed plans for the site have now been given the go ahead. We are looking forward to starting work on Lockwood Place once planning consent is formally granted. There is a growing demand for new housing in this part of Suffolk and we are building a mix of homes to meet the needs of a wide variety of buyers. The development will also deliver 67 affordable homes to help cater for the housing demands of local people, as well as providing significant areas of public open space.”
Lockwood Place will feature 17 acres of green open space and land has also been allocated for a new pre-school.
All homes on the development will be from Bellway’s Artisan Collection, the developer’s flagship range of house types which combine traditional craftsmanship with modern construction techniques.
Richard said: “Lockwood Place offers the best of both worlds for residents. It is in a semi-rural location, just half a mile from the village of Bramford and only a 15-minute drive to Ipswich. We expect there to be a high level of interest from people wanting to live in what will be a charming new neighbourhood.”
Work is due to start on the development in the coming weeks and the first homes will go on sale this winter.
