Plans have been approved for a new Bellway development which will bring 70 homes to Bexhill.

Detailed planning consent for the scheme was granted by Rother District Council on Thursday 12 August.

The development, which will occupy a 20-acre site off Clavering Walk on the western edge of the town, will deliver a mix of 49 two, three, four and five-bedroom houses for private sale and 21 properties provided as affordable homes for local people through rent or shared ownership.

The new houses will be constructed as part of the Artisan Collection, Bellway’s flagship range of house types, which combines traditional craftsmanship and attention to detail with the very latest construction techniques – and is the result of two years of development and decades of customer input.

Dan Bradbury, regional director of Bellway South London, said: “Now that planning consent has been secured, we are preparing to begin construction work on site later this year. This development will be a positive addition of much-needed new homes to the seaside town of Bexhill. The site is located near excellent transport links, including Cooden Beach railway station, just half a mile away, offering services to Bexhill, Ashford International and Eastbourne. Bexhill town centre is just over two miles east of the development, where residents will have access to a range of supermarkets and shops, as well as restaurants and cafes. Besides delivering high-quality new homes, the overall development has been thoughtfully designed with residents in mind. Plenty of public open space has been allocated to the north of the site, to include new tree planting, footpaths, boardwalks and play spaces.”

With construction on site due to start later this year, the first homes are set to be released for sale to the public in 2022.
