Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall complete royal engagements across the UK as senior working royals. Along with their London residence, Charles and Camilla spend time at properties in elsewhere in England, Scotland and Wales. Here are the four main residences the couple call home.

Clarence House

Prince Charles’ official London residence is Clarence House, which he shares with his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.

Before Charles and Camilla occupied the property, Clarence House was the home of the Queen Mother, who died in 2002.

Before she ascended the throne as Queen, then-Princess Elizabeth also lived at the property with her husband Prince Philip.

Charles actually lived at Clarence House until the age of three, before moving to Buckingham Palace with his parents and sister Princess Anne.

The property includes offices for Charles and Camilla’s staff and is also used as an official royal residence for receptions and dinners.

Highgrove House

Highgrove House in Gloucestershire has been Prince Charles’ residence since the 1980s.

Before Prince Charles purchased Highgrove, the residence belonged to Maurice Macmillan, the son of former British prime minister Harold Macmillan.

Highgrove was also the home of Princess Diana when she was married to Prince Charles, and their two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry.

Charles is known to take an interest in the impressive gardens around Highgrove, and when the property is open to visitors people can tour the gardens.

The website explains: “After the property was purchased, the Duchy of Cornwall worked closely with local craftsmen and contractors to renovate the house.

“These include Ty-Mawr Lime from Brecon who provided the lime plaster, Coe Stone Ltd stonemasons from Neath and Camillieri, roofing contractors from the Vale of Glamorgan.

“Materials were sourced from within Wales wherever possible. Some of the stone and Welsh slate used in the renovation had been recovered from the site.”

The interior of the beautiful home was also furnished with Welsh textiles, pottery and rugs.

Birkhall

Birkhall is Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall’s private residence in Scotland.

The property is located on the Queen’s Balmoral estate, and it is where Charles and Camilla spent the first UK lockdown.

Like the Queen, Charles often opts to spend his summer holiday in Scotland.
