“Reviving this summer work program exposes our students to the different fields and careers they can explore after high school graduation. Rebuilding Guam is going to require a skilled, diversified workforce, and we are excited for the hands-on learning that will take place at job sites around the island,” said Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero.
Guam DOE Superintendent Jon Fernandez said he participated in an internship when in high school.
“It inspired my passion for public service and motivated me to work harder to be successful. Now, it’s a great feeling to know that we … can make the same opportunity available again to today’s high school students,” he said. “We encourage our young people to apply, learn new skills, and be exposed to the world of work.”
Applications for the program will be available starting June 11 on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications may be picked up at the Kattan Resource Center at 228 Teresita Lane in Mangilao. An electronic copy may be requested via email at 2021summeryouthemployment@gmail.com.
