According to a recent study, a home in Islington, North London, with an average house price of £848,710, could see its value rise by £141,451, thanks to a well-maintained green space. As part of the research, MyToolshed analysed house prices of properties on the market across 10 areas of London, before calculating the cost of revamping a garden.

Garden spaces

MyToolshed suggested dividing the garden in to different areas to provide a space to relax and another to eat. This could be achieved by featuring a patio area or decking.

Outdoor furniture

Outdoor furniture can provide an attractive addition to a garden, while showcasing an appealing space where prospective house buyers can entertain and socialise.

Potted plants

Featuring potted plants in a garden not only looks attractive, but can also help to connect different areas of a green space.

Security

It is vital a property is fully secure, especially the entranceways.

Outdoor lighting

Outdoor lighting can provide an attractive feature in any green space.

Ensuring there is adequate lighting enables people to enjoy a green space during the evening, especially in the summer.

A range of lighting can be installed, including solar lights, which are not only environmentally friendly, but are a much cheaper option compared to some appliances, as they do not involve any electricity costs.
