As more people return to the office, location has once again, become a leading factor in where to live. During the height of lockdown, homes located in picturesque seaside locations and market towns with sizeable gardens were incredibly popular. Meanwhile bustling city centre fell out of favour, as more Britons traded their desk jobs for a laptop on their kitchen table.

2. Liverpool Lime Street station

A central city location that’s just under three hours from London and 40 minutes from Manchester, Liverpool Lime Street station has had a 59 percent increase in searches.

There’s also a direct train to Leeds that takes just under two hours, making it an ideal spot for north west commuters.

3. Sittingbourne station

Just an hour’s commute from London, Sittingbourne station saw a 47 percent rise in buyer searches.

Located in an industrial town in Kent, the station is also just 17 miles from Canterbury.

5. Hassocks station

Hassocks station has had a 32 percent increase in buyers searches.

The spot is located close to the picturesque seaside town of Worthing and isn’t far from bustling Brighton and Hove.

MediaCityUK Tram Stop in Greater Manchester, Southampton Central, Chesterfield station, Folkestone West and Kettering station completed the top 10.

Rightmove property expert Tim Bannister said the morning commute is becoming more important.

He said: “Although some stations such as Chelmsford are always popular, the notable increase from June to August suggests the growing importance of the morning commute for those who don’t work locally.

“While the demand to relocate or search for more space has by no means gone away, the numbers suggest that this will need to be balanced with easy transport access on office days, which has understandably been lower on the agenda for many over the last eighteen months.”
