A PROPERTY group has been commissioned to ask local community groups what they would like to see happen to Earlestown Town Hall.

The town hall is currently being restored following Earlestown’s regeneration plans.

BE Group, a property focused company, has asked members of the community if they would have an interest in renting a place in the town hall.

Business For Youth in Earlestown received an email from the BE group about their possible interest to rent a place.

The email stated: “BE Group are currently working on behalf of St Helens Metropolitan Borough Council who are investigating the possibility of redeveloping Earlestown Town Hall.

“We are currently exploring potential uses for the town hall and as part of this we are holding conversations with local community groups.”

Cllr Terry Maguire, said: “I mentioned the approach to BFY on my councillor page and asked what people would like to see in the town hall.  The response was huge and many suggested medical service, council services, community hub, shops, offices.

“It is good to hear the people of the town giving their opinion, with the hope that such an iconic building can be brought back to use.”

The Newton Amateur Dramatic & Operatic Society were known for their pantomimes at the town hall and have also shown their interest in returning.

Members of the community have taken to Facebook to share their suggestions of what should the town hall be used for.

These suggestions include college education for adults, a bank hub, and a volunteer project.
