New data from the UK’s biggest property website Rightmove has revealed that two areas in Hampshire are amongst this year’s strongest sellers’ markets.

Andover in North West Hampshire and Eastleigh, located between Southampton and Winchester, are both in the top five places with the strongest sellers’ market.

A strong sellers’ market is an area where a high proportion of the homes that have come to market on Rightmove this year have found a buyer and been marked sold subject to contract (SSTC).

Andover was ranked as second on the list with 83 per cent of homes being marked SSTC.

The average asking price for a property in the area was £296,117, an increase of four per cent from the previous year.

Meanwhile Eastleigh was ranked as the fourth best sellers’ market.

The town saw 81 per cent of homes listed as SSTC with an average asking price of £356,412. This was an increase of five per cent on the previous year.

All data used to calculate the best sellers’ market list came from the resale listings on Rightmove between January and November 2021.

Houses in the £250,000 or below bracket were the best performing for sellers this year, with 82 per cent finding a buyer and being marked SSTC in the south east.

Rightmove’s Director of Property Data Tim Bannister says: “This year, sellers in Great Britain have had a better chance of finding a buyer for their home than at any time over the past decade.

“A staggering statistic is that seven in ten properties for sale have been marked sold subject to contract this year, compared to two out of ten in 2012, highlighting both the speed and efficiency of the housing market.

“Managing short supply with high buyer demand has been a challenge for agents across Great Britain this year, and while the level of stock per agent is at record lows, the jump in number of people getting in touch with an agent to have their home valued suggests some fresh choice for buyers next year.”
