Carbis Bay, a small seaside village in St Ives, Cornwall, has been transformed this week into a political hotspot as leaders from across the world gather for the G7 summit. Prime Minister Boris Johnson said Carbis Bay was the “perfect location” to host this weekend’s G7 summit. Mr Johnson will be joined by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Emmanuel Macron and newly elected US President Joe Biden.

She said: “Right now it’s like being on a movie set, and it’s great to see the place under the global spotlight.

“We’ve seen a huge amount of demand for homes here, especially those that have a sea view.

“We’ve had interested buyers hoping to view properties over the next few days but they’ll have to wait a little until the summit is over.”

Earlier this year, Cornwall replaced London as the most searched for place to live in the UK.

The seaside county has become more sought-after as more homeowners spend time at home.

As buyers look for more space and scenic views, Cornwall has become a prime hotspot.

However, Rightmove property expert Tim Bannister has warned the county comes with a “price premium”.

He said: “All eyes are on Carbis Bay right now, and with supply so limited, coupled with the price premium for the county and the fast pace of sales, it’s only a lucky few who will be able to move there, but thousands of others are checking out what’s on offer.

“Interest from potential buyers in coastal areas has increased significantly over the past year, with Cornwall now the most searched for place on Rightmove, and there are a large group of people considering a coastal relocation for a different lifestyle.”
