A man has been arrested and charged in connection with a series of thefts across Rochdale and Bury.

Following an investigation by the Rochdale Neighbourhood Task Force and Bury CID, Lewis Brierley, 20, of no fixed abode, has been charged with burglary and robbery offences dating between 5 and 12 January 2022.

Brierley appeared at Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 15 January and has been remanded into custody until 18 February.

The incidents the charges relate to are as follows: 

  • On 5 January 2022, a man entered a business premises on Eton Business Park in Bury, and stole car keys.
  • On 7 January 2022, a man entered a business premises in Rochdale, with intent to steal.
  • On 7 January 2022, a man attempted to steal property from an address on Bury Old Road, and threatened the occupant with violence.
  • Also on 7 January, a man stole a vehicle from a property on Oldham Road in Rochdale, and items were stolen from another vehicle at a distribution centre to the value of £750.
  • On 11 January, a man entered two car garages and businesses in Rochdale, with intent to steal.
  • Also on 11 January, a man made off from a petrol station in Rochdale without paying for £55 worth of petrol.
  • On 12 January 2022, a man stole a car from a car garage and business in Bury.
