Russell’s Café will return to Rochdale town centre
One of Rochdale’s longstanding and most popular cafés is set to return to Yorkshire Street this year.
Russell’s Café will reopen in the former Dorothy Perkins store in the town centre at the end of summer with both indoor and outdoor seating.
It had previously been located in the Wheatsheaf Shopping Centre, having opened there when the centre opened in 1990. The centre closed last year just before Christmas.

Councillor John Blundell, cabinet member for economy and communications at Rochdale Borough Council and RDA board member, said: “We were pleased to support Russells Café’s move onto Yorkshire Street following the closure of the Wheatsheaf during what was an exceptionally challenging year for high streets up and down the country.
“We have a thriving independent business community in our borough and they all bring something unique and special. Russells has been an institution in Rochdale town centre for a number of years and I’m really pleased that they will continue to be a presence for many more to come.”
Paul Ambrose, Rochdale BID manager, added: “It’s great to see that such a well loved and long standing business is relocating to a vacant property along Yorkshire Street. Following the closure of the Wheatsheaf Centre, the BID team has received numerous queries from customers of Russell’s Café wanting to know if they are relocating and it’s great that we can pass on the news that they are.
“The BID wishes Jeremy, Keeley and the Russell’s team every success in their new premises along Yorkshire Street.”
