Senior Solicitor – Litigation and Advice



To assist the Head of Legal Services in the effective delivery of professional legal advice and guidance to the Chief Constable, Senior Management and other members of Police Scotland and the execution of legal work, with specific focus on the Sheku Bayoh Public Inquiry. The Chief Constable is a Core Participant at the Public Inquiry.

The post holder will be embedded into the Police Scotland Public Inquiry Team and, alongside the Solicitor also embedded into that Team, will work in close support to Senior and Junior Counsel already engaged for the Chief Constable.

About you

  • You will be educated to LLB Degree (Bachelor of Laws) or equivalent.
  • Hold a current unrestricted Practicing Certificate from the Law Society of Scotland.
  • Proven achievements in specific areas of Court work, demonstrating relevant experience of Litigation and Advice legal work.
  • This full time post is temporary for 18 months and requires Standard Recruitment Vetting. You will work 35 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.
