A property has been closed off to the public after it played host to a series of illegal activities.

Reports from residents suggested that the property, on Severn Road in Spalding, was being used used for drug dealing among other offences – with neighbours experiencing anti-social and abusive behaviour from people visiting the address.

Amidst concerns that the tenant of the property was being exploited by those committing the offences, South Holland District Council partnered with Lincolnshire Police to secure a Partial Closure Order.

The Order, which was awarded in court last month, allows the tenant to remain in the property and for key workers to visit it to carry out their duties.

It will last for three months, and anyone else found to enter the home during this period will have committed an offence.

Councillor Gary Taylor, portfolio holder for communities and facilities, said: “I welcome this important decision by the Court, and would like to thank our council officers and those from the police for their quick, pro-active action to help keep our residents safe while a long-term solution is found.

“I am pleased that we have been able to secure this Order, and hope that it shows the importance of reporting any anti-social behaviour to us in the district, so that we can investigate and take appropriate steps to put an end to it as soon as possible.”

The district council’s safety and housing teams originally sought the three-month order.
