A four-bedroom freehold house at 95 Pyle Street, Newport, went for £170,000.

Rob Marchant, Clive Emson’s Isle of Wight auctioneer, said: “The final bid was £10,000 above guide price, with six bids made.

The house at 95 Pyle Street, Newport.

“The house is in need of some upgrading and refurbishment and is considered very worthy of the improvements required.

“It is considered that the house could continue as a letting investment, having being used in this guise for many years previously.

“Alternatively, the house would make a splendid family home, subject to the new owner’s requirements.

“However, we are not privy to any plans the new owner may or may not have.”

A private garage and workshop, with electricity and water, which dated back to around 1850 as a double stable and tack room, sold for £47,000, which was £12,000 above estimate. The property, on a 999-year lease, is at 22B George Street, Ryde.

Buckingham Road Car Park in Ryde, which was guided freehold at £150,000-plus, with parking for 20 cars, was sold prior to auction.

Clive Emson’s first auction of eight in 2022 ends on Wednesday, February 9.

Lot entries close on Monday, January 17, with the catalogue online from Friday, January 21.
