A unique and somewhat airy property on Tolney Lane, Newark, will going under the hammer at auction next week.
People travelling from Newark to Nottingham via train may recognise Mill House, which has a guide price of £39,000, and is one of the area’s original properties from before it became such an extensive Traveller site.
The vacant three-bedroom home last sold in 2017 for £145,000 and has since been subject to severe vandalism.
Several internal walls have been damaged, and there’s a large hole in the property’s front where the living room window used to be. However, some of the property’s original features remain in tact.
Auctioneers Bond Wolfe said it thought the house, whose decline will have been evident to passengers on the train to and from Nottingham, would be best suited to someone who is willing to take on a challenge.
Suzanne Randell, joint managing director for auctions at Bond Wolfe, said: “Due to the condition of the property, we would expect it to appeal to someone who likes a project such as a builder or property investor who would be happy to undertake the work to bring it back into habitable use.”
The three-storey property features a two reception rooms and a kitchen diner on the ground-floor, two bedrooms and a dressing room on the first-floor and another bedroom and a shower room on the second-floor.
It also has off-road parking.
With a £3,900 deposit, a buyer pay a mortgage of £148 per month over a 25 year period.
Virtual tours are available, however, the auction company will not be offering viewings inside the property.
