The Queen is on the hunt for someone to look after her money – and the right candidate will be paid a starting salary of £90,000 a year.

The role is for a new Head of Finance based in Buckingham Palace, where you’ll manage a team of up to 30 people.

In the job advert posted online, the ideal candidate, which could earn up to £100,000 a year, will be an ACA qualified accountant and hold previous experience in a senior finance role.

You’ll also need “a strong understanding of business and strategic issues, and will have produced statutory accounts, management accounts, financial reports and analysis.”

“Managing a team of qualified and part-qualified accountants, you’ll further embed a business partnering approach, ensuring that the specialist advice and support provided by you and your team is business-focused, pragmatic and reflects best practice,” the advert reads.

“No two days will be the same and the diversity of our operations will stretch you. Although primarily responsible for the financial management of our public funding through the Sovereign Grant, you’ll oversee shared-services which also support Royal Collection Trust commercial enterprises and charitable trust.

“And as you support others, you’ll have exceptional opportunities to grow your own career. We don’t stand still here; and your ideas will make an impact at the heart of this world-famous institution.”

The successful candidate will be based at the Palace and offered a salary of between £90,000 to £100,000 per year, depending on your previous experience.

The advert states there will be other benefits attached to the role as well, but it doesn’t go into further detail.

It’s a permanent job and you’ll be required to work 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday – so no weekend work.

The new role comes after the Queen, 95, was confirmed to have caught coronavirus in an announcement released by Buckingham Palace on Sunday morning.

The monarch is said to be experiencing “mild cold-like symptoms” and has cancelled planned virtual engagements today as a result.

A Buckingham Palace spokesman said this morning: “As Her Majesty is still experiencing mild cold-like symptoms she has decided not to undertake her planned virtual engagements today, but will continue with light duties.”

The Queen will continue with “light duties” such as dealing with official papers in her private Windsor Castle apartments.

Further engagements over the coming week will be decided upon nearer the time.

A telephone call with Prime Minister Boris Johnson tomorrow is understood to still be scheduled in her diary as it stands.
