If you have ever watched Homes Under the Hammer, you’ll know that buying a home at an auction can be a worthwhile investment. Not only can you often bag a property for a price much cheaper that what is currently on the market, but most of the homes require updating and renovating – allowing you to put your own stamp on it and increase the value.
Three doer-upper homes, each found in Bolton, are set to go under the hammer next month and they each have the potential to make into a great property to live in our rent. Taylor James Auctions are hosting an auction on April 13 where the three houses will be open for bidding.
With guide prices ranging from £10,000 to £55,000, it is well worth taking a look at all that these homes have to offer and registering your interest ahead of the auction day.

Albert Road, Farnworth

A three-bed terraced house in the town of Farnworth is set to go to the auction next month, with a guide price of £10,000.
The auctioneer says the home, which is currently vacant, is in ‘need of modernisation’ which can be seen in the walk-through video with its dated carpet, tiles and curtains.
The property has heaps of potential with a layout including two reception rooms and a kitchen on the ground floor, and three bedrooms and a bathroom on the second floor. There is also a garden to the rear.
Open viewings are taking place at the home on April 2, 6, 9 and 11 at 10am until 11am.
Moorfield Grove, Tonge Moor

Listed with a guide price of £20,000 is this terraced home in Tonge, located near to Bolton Town Centre, which is set to go under the hammer in April.
The mid-terrace property has two bedrooms, one bathroom, a living room and dining room and a kitchen, with a small patio area to the front and a garden to the rear. It will need a lot of work done to it but if bought at the right price it could be a great doer-upper project.

Also open for bidding at the auction on April 13 is this detached home in Harwood, with a starting price of £55,000. Although this is the most expensive guide price of these three homes, it is extremely cheap in comparison to the average price of a detached home in Bolton which is £365,200.
On the ground floor of the house, which has been extended, there is an entrance hall, reception room, kitchen and a further room which can be used as an additional bedroom. Upstairs there are three bedrooms and one bathroom.
Taylor James Auctions say the house ‘requires updating’, with the walk-through tour showing old fashioned interior throughout. Outside the property has a driveway, garage and gardens at the front and back, with the rear especially needing a lot of work to it.
Open viewings are taking place at the home on April 2, 6, 9 and 11 from 11:15 to 12:15pm. You do not need an appointment to attend.
What is a guide price?
Guide prices are provided as an indication of each seller’s minimum expectation. They are not necessarily figures which a property will sell for and may change at any time prior to the auction.
Each property will be offered subject to a Reserve (a figure below which the auctioneer cannot sell the property during the auction) which they expect will be set within the guide range or no more than 10% above a single figure guide.
