It’s no secret the UK is home to some pretty picturesque places, but new research by Zoopla has found that the Cotswolds is the most popular beauty spot for house hunters in the country.
With its rustic rural charm, rolling hills, honey-hued cottages and vibrant market towns, we’re not surprised Zoopla reported a whopping 8,661,331 searches for Cotswold properties in just six months. The average house price might sit at £474,164, but Brits will pay the premium to live there.
In second place came the Kent Downs, famous for its enchanting landscapes and diverse array of wildlife. Meanwhile, The Chiltern Hills, High Weald and Cornwall rounded off the top five, all famed for their glorious countryside settings. Life may be returning to normal, but the reappraisal of urban living is still strong.
With people increasingly wanting more space, other beauty spots in the list include the North Wessex Downs, South Devon and the Wye Valley.

‘As a result of the pandemic, the expectation for people to work from the office full time has changed, with remote and hybrid working now widely accepted by employers across the UK,’ say Zoopla. ‘To make the most of this opportunity, home hunters have been re-evaluating their city lifestyle, hoping to take advantage of working from home with greener pastures in sight.’
