Khatima, Uttarakhand: With just two days left for the upcoming assembly elections in Uttarakhand, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday cornered the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the issue of unemployment in the state.

Hitting out at the BJP government, the Congress leader said that people belonging to every section of the society are suffering. She also attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that he doesn’t listen to the people’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’.

“Why are people forced to migrate out of Uttarakhand for jobs? Because there is no employment generation here. Every section of society is suffering, but the Prime Minister is not ready to listen to their ‘Mann Ki Baat’,” ANI quoted Priyanka Gandhi as saying.

Expressing confidence over the victory of her party in Uttarakhand, the Congress general secretary said Congress will definitely come to power in the Himalayan state because the people are tired of the ruling BJP government.

“Chief Minister should tell the people what he is going to do to check inflation and boost employment. What is he going to do for women?” she added.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also held an election rally in Uttarakhand where he targeted Congress saying that the grand old party has been wiped out from many states and the Himalayan state has that opportunity in the polls to do the same.

“Congress says India is not a nation; had it not been a nation, sons of Uttarakhand wouldn’t have been guarding the country’s frontiers,” PM Modi said.

Uttarakhand will go to the polls on February 14 and the results will be declared on March 10, as per the Election Commission of India (ECI).
